The UCONN Huskies struggle in the 11-12 Big East season but turned things around in the Conference Tournament. In the quarterfinals of the tourney, they met up with Syracuse for the third time and fell to them in a close one 55-58. It was their third loss to the Orangemen. This was a Syracuse team that later had 30 regular season and 4 postseason wins vacated due to sanctions against the program.

Once in the NCAA tournament, they were knocked out in the first round by Iowa State 64-77.
