The Sycamores led by future NBA Hall of Famer, Larry Bird who averaged 28.6 ppg, were the #1 seed going into the NCAA Tournament. They met up with #2 seed Michigan State and Earvin "Magic" Johnson but lost the title 75-64. Bird was named to the All-Tournament team.
